The uniforms of the soldiers in the film were too clean they were faded and sweat stained. The helmets were darkened with tea or coffee and the brass badges were never worn on active service.

Love pith helmets. Sadly none are made for extra large heads.

No British officers were shot in the back…they were white Colonials from the Natal Native Contingent. No mention of the fact that Cetshwayo was at Ulundi which was 50 odd miles away…so Witt coming back from there to warn the garrison was ridiculous. British uniforms were also wrong…only the front of the collars were coloured green…and yes no white helmets (they were dyed) with regimental plates removed as well. Also at the very end you see Lancers - 17th Lancers were the only Lancers present in the war…but not until several months later.

....and it wasn't very fun...🤣🤣🤣

I was 11 in 1997, and I lived in Australia, I could inly afford the little packs, I had one of everything, including the mechs. But I never had the Starter set, so I never got to play it as intended, but the minis were cool, so I just played out… Aliens, and starship troopers just like you did. God I miss all my toys.

Im a little too old for this, when it came out I was alreafy into 40k and battletech. But remember the art on the box and really liking it. With the advent of 3d printing proxies, maybe its time to resurrect some of these old obscure games!

I agree with the casualties. However there is a cavite. Next to no one came out uninjured in the fighting on the British side, Also 17 killed and 15 seriously wounded are reported. This is about 20% of the entire force of British there. By contrast. The Zulu lost about 22% assuming the 4000 number. They also didn't commit the best troops available. The British by the next day went from 20000 rounds to 900..... The numbers alone makes it look like a blowout. It wasn't.... They almost didn't make it

I watched the film today and was amazed by the fact they actually survived as I was convinced for a long time they died at the end. Spectacular film!

ive always had recuring dreams of lying down on hot dusty dirt and trying to pick myself up and whilst looking around feeling absolute dred and horror seeing lots of men in uniform getting slaughtered. i would be desparately trying to find a way to escape only to find im about to be surrounded and hacked to pieces. i would wake up in a cold sweat, i remember these dreams as young as 6 yrs of age, then when i was about 9 i saw the movie zulu dawn and omg it was like my nightmare playing out before me. im 50 next month and when i was 45 a friend introduced me to this guy that apparently a spiritualist and he studied aura,s etc. he apparently could see people as they were in a past life by looking at them well he kinda goes into like a dreamstate and looks through you and sees your former self. anyway i met him at a party shook hands and didnt think no more of it but through the nite he kept looking over at me to the point i thought this guy must be gay sorry pal but im not interested. but no he certainly wasnt gay, he was simply picking up on my auras, he came over and simply said alrite mate take this as you will but i see you or what you were, im now abit taken back, what do you mean i asked. he replied you used to be in the british army didnt you, i replied no i never have. he said in the late 1800,s you were, you were in africa ,then he paused, he then said poor you you didnt stand a chance bless you. now before you say anything i never told my other friend about my nitemares either. i then told this guy about this constant nitemare ive had all my life. he said i was killed in a major battle by warriors . africa sometime in the late 1800,s i asked him give me a name. after looking through me again he then said im getting M johnson possibly morris or michael johnson both of these names were at isandlwana among the dead.

Thinking about the act of bravery. apone thinking about it yes all the soldiers could have scarpered and deserted the camp pretty sharply or that could have been the order given to strike the camp pretty sharply. but when after more thought the soldiers were in a foreign land, they didnt have a clue how many zulus were coming for them really. be it 3 thousand or 33 thousand they didnt know, the zulu,s would obviously know the surrounding layout a darnsite better than any soldier too, for all the soldiers knew just a mile away they could suddenly be surround in the open by 30 - 40 thousand warriors ? so thinking about it id rather take my chances staying at rorkes drift. and i wouldnt so much call it bravery but moreso the FACT they didnt have any real CHOICE TO DO ANYTHING ELSE ? they were forced into this horrendous position. not so much about being brave, in their minds if they left camp they were probably dead anyway.

I liked not having to paint the miniatures and it was far cheaper than GW. Pretty sure it featured in 2000AD a few times to flesh out the world

I am a huge fan of this game. I happened to get a copy of this game for Christmas a few decades ago. I learned the local toy shops were selling their back stock of the game for $19AU. I took to the idea quite well. I also discovered they were selling the Mission Dreadnought Expansion pack for $9AU. I mean this was back around 1993! Thankfully I benefited from this, and still have the game to this very day. I later on purchased a copy of the rare Eldar Attack expansion. It was a lot more expensive, but it was worth the effort to purchase it. I am a completest after all.

Different fighting arms had different tops. Artillery a ball, infantry the spike an cab had something else. 🇦🇺👍🍺

Coming across this video try to.make the helmet. My 7 year old wants to dress up like a Victorian area soldier .

Also I dont get how that soldier suddenly like fall you missed that part and when the soldiers in the back firing like what are they firing at that's like wasting ammo

In the movie Zulu, the Zulus are getting revved-up for battle by repeating the chant "Zoo-wah-zee" (my interpretation). In the movie Gladiator (Russell Crowe), The Germanians are revving to fight the Romans and are using the same chant. Coincidence or homage?

This film and the reality of the battle and the circumstances surrounding it has to be one the most contentious subjects in British military history. Hardly anyone, qualified historian's, amateur historian's,film buffs, writers etc etc can agree on anything about the facts and the fiction, this guy's admirable attempt at sorting out the "True" story has 2 errors in it to my knowledge!. My knowledge will also be flawed I expect?!. What I feel I can confidently say is that every man involved in that particular action, whether they were decorated or not must have been very capable and very brave indeed. Oh, one other thing,- it wasn't a Welsh regiment and though there were a small number of Welshmen involved, brave and true no doubt, there is no other significant connection with the story and Wales.

There was very little hand to hand fighting at Rorke's Drift despite what is shown in the film.

Although the mutual respect between the two opposing fighting forces is a theme in the movie, there was no "battlefield singing contest" between the British and the Zulus!
